Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Yapo collects, how it is used, and the choices you have when using the service.

1. Information We Collect

Account information, such as your name, email address, profile image, and sign-in provider account ID.

Profile and preference information, such as display name, date of birth, gender, companion preferences, selected traits, and onboarding choices.

Chat content and related data, including messages, companion conversations, generated images, uploaded images, timestamps, favorites, and usage metadata.

Technical and safety data, such as session cookies, IP-derived request information, rate-limit events, device/browser basics, logs, and abuse-prevention signals.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to provide Yapo, keep you signed in, save chat history, personalize companion suggestions, generate AI replies, operate image features, enforce safety rules, and protect the service from abuse.

We also use usage and reliability information to debug issues, understand product performance, improve the app, and maintain security.

3. AI and Service Providers

Yapo uses third-party infrastructure and AI providers to run the product. This may include hosting, database, authentication, Redis/rate-limit infrastructure, AI text generation, AI image generation, moderation, and analytics or logging tools.

When needed to provide a feature, messages, images, prompts, or related context may be sent to those providers. They process that information according to their own terms and policies.

4. Cookies and Sessions

Yapo uses cookies or similar session technology to keep you signed in, protect your account, and route requests correctly.

If you clear cookies, sign out, or if the authentication secret is rotated, you may need to sign in again.

5. Sharing Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate Yapo, comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent abuse, or work with service providers who help run the product.

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to investigate fraud, security issues, or harmful use of the service.

6. Data Retention

We keep account, profile, chat, and usage data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain safety, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or operate backups.

Generated or uploaded images may be stored by Yapo or external providers depending on how the feature is delivered.

7. Your Choices

You can stop using Yapo at any time. You can sign out, change supported preferences in the app, or request help with account-related privacy questions through the support channel provided in the product.

Some information may need to be retained for security, legal, backup, or abuse-prevention reasons.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for an MVP, including authenticated sessions, admin access controls, rate limits, and production security headers.

No system is perfectly secure. You should avoid sharing sensitive secrets, passwords, financial information, or emergency information in chats.

9. Adults Only

Yapo is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow minors to use the service.

If we learn that an underage user has provided information, we may restrict or remove the account.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Yapo changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Continuing to use Yapo after updates means the updated policy applies.
